Project: AAV - Accessible Autonomous Vehicle

Cumulative disadvantages faced by people with disabilities (PwDs) has a detrimental effect on physical, financial, and emotional well-being. A lack of mobility and social inclusion is connected to this disadvantage and violates basic human rights. Providing access to mobility leads to improved access to medical care, employment, social inclusion, economy, and improved safety, which would lead to benefits for PwDs and the broader community. The aim of this project is to develop design principles leading to an accessible autonomous vehicle design. The research will also inform policy and investment decisions related to the TMR Accessibility and Inclusion Strategy & Action Plan.
