Mata Design Studio

Mata Design Studio is based upon the creation of interior and built environments that are functional, considered and exceptional. Our practice aims to create unique spaces which respond directly to the brief, site and Client. While projects are not selected for the project itself, it is the Clients’ response to the project and the desired outcome which leads us to take them on and because of this, we take on a variety work. Our work is defined by the desire to create something extraordinary.

Project: Bar Vino

PLACE - Bar Vino is located in an old, local corner deli dating back to the 1950's which was frequented by the Owners' family. The retention of the corner site was deliberate and nostalgic. The area did not have a "local" and this cafe-bar provides that space for the community.

INTERACT - The site is connected to the larger residential development. It revitalises the area, provides amenity for the locals and engages with the community.

USE - the design makes full use of the small space that it occupies 133sqm housing a cafe by day, restaurant/wine bar by night. The interior transitions through the day and has a smart, tight layout. The rosso marble was sourced from original batches.
