Award of Merit:

Lucy Clemenger Architects for Delatite Cellar Door

Lucy Clemenger Architects is an architecture and interior design practice servicing the residential and commercial sector; designing buildings that are considered, contextually responsive, and display a refined sensibility. The practice strives to create sustainable and enduring places, and to design architecture that makes a positive contribution to our cities and regions. Whilst approaching each project in a unique way, their driving principles are constant: creating inspiring spaces that capture each client’s brief and aspirations whilst respecting the environmental and social impacts of their designs.

About the Project

With sweeping views across Taungurung Country, the Delatite Cellar Door provides a unique wine tasting and dining experience located in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The building utilises environmentally sustainable design principles and reflects the warmth and generosity of Delatite’s owners in a new commercial setting. The design responds to the harsh climate and provides a refuge of robust forms and natural materials. Curated views frame the magnificent sweeping landscape. Inspired by the everchanging vineyard, domestic scaled interiors are bathed in rich tones and a reductive palette of textural warmth.
